Kainalu Matthews and Czarina Pineda-Abaya competed in the San Jose Buddhist Tournament, a senior-level tournament. Kainalu competed in both the brown-belt and black-belt division at 100 kg and Czarina competed in the black-belt division at 57 kg.

Kainalu won the brown-belt division at 100 kg and went 1-3 in the black-belt division at 100 kg.

Czarina competed under the University of San Francisco judo club and placed second in the black-belt 57 kg division.
